Special healthcare agreement (Catalonia)

In Catalonia, people who are not insured or beneficiaries of the National Health System and have no access to any public health protection system can access public healthcare by signing a special agreement with CatSalut and paying a monthly fee: €60 if under 65 and €157 if 65 or over. The application is filed at the citizen service units of the health regions, after booking an appointment. Requirements: actual residence in Spain for at least one continuous year immediately before applying (periods in other EU or EEA states, Switzerland or the United Kingdom count), being registered on the padrón in a Catalan municipality and having no access to any public health protection system. Approval or refusal is notified within 30 days at most; the agreement is signed after paying the first fee and care is effective from the signing date.
