Registering as a job seeker (Catalonia)
Inscripción como demandante de empleo (Cataluña)
What it is
In Catalonia, registering as a job seeker with the Catalan Public Employment Service (SOC) gives access to its services: training courses, career guidance, work-experience programmes and job offers handled by the employment offices. It is free and voluntary, except for people receiving unemployment benefits, for whom it is compulsory; it can be done by unemployed people and by people in work who want a better job. If it is the first time and you have a DNI, you can do it online on the spot and get the DARDO document; afterwards you must contact the employment office within 30 days to complete your professional profile, or the registration is cancelled. Foreign nationals with an NIE linked to a residence authorisation can request registration by calling the SOC on 930 886 200 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 14:00). To go in person, booking an appointment with the employment office is recommended.
