Marriage at the Chinese Consulate General in Barcelona
Matrimonio en el Consulado General de China en Barcelona
What it is
Two Chinese citizens living in Spain, at least one of them in Catalonia, can marry at the Chinese Consulate General in Barcelona if they meet the conditions of the Chinese Civil Code (neither already married, no direct-line kinship or collateral kinship within three generations, legal marriage age). They book in the "中国领事" app (marriage registration appointment) and attend together in person with their Chinese passport, Chinese ID card (if any), Spanish residence card (originals and copies), 3 photos of the couple measuring 3.5 x 5.3 cm and a printed screenshot of the appointment; divorced or widowed applicants also provide the relevant judgment or certificate. If the requirements are met, the marriage certificate is issued on the spot, free of charge. The consulate also handles divorce by mutual agreement for marriages celebrated there (with a 30-day cooling-off period) and duplicates of its certificates, also free.
