What it is
In Catalonia the landlord must deposit the rental deposit with the Institut Català del Sòl (INCASÒL) within two months of signing the contract, using form Model 2 - Dipòsit de fiança, which assigns a control number (NC). The amount is one month's rent for a primary home and two months' rent for uses other than housing (homes that are not the tenant's habitual and permanent residence also count as such); for seasonal contracts of less than a year, the proportional part is deposited on the basis of two months' rent. You need, among other things, the signed contract with its annexes and the cadastral reference. Those obliged to deal with the authorities electronically must do it online; it can also be done in person at the Urban Property Chambers, at Generalitat citizen offices (OAC) or at INCASÒL. Payment is by online banking or ATMs of CaixaBank, Banc Sabadell and BBVA, by card, or in cash at Banc Sabadell and BBVA branches.
